Wawa Dam | Montalban (Rodriguez) Rizal

Another day getaway adventure is set with my Mukamo team and this time my girlfriend is tagged along. We travel north town of Rizal and headed to Montalban Dam or widely known as Wawa Dam.

"Together we stand, Divided we fall."

From Makati to Montalban Rizal is about 2 hours of travel before we reached the foot of Wawa.
At the height of the summer, the river flows down gone dry and prodigious boulders of limestone were pop out.

Going to Wawa dam required patience and a bit of a trekking, save you strength at least before going to Wawa dam. Along the way up, you will witness some caves and ruin buildings, you will also passed through tunnel and bamboo bridges.

You'll get to pass on that narrow bamboo bridge before reaching the bamboo cottages

There were few locals who have been residing around the Wawa Dam for quite a long time, you will find some sari-sari stores along the way, locals (mostly the young ones) selling some best delicacies like rice cakes, banana cue, kamote cue and many more delicious items. At the top of the Wawa Dam, other locals used to do bamboo rafting against the calmness of the water.

Going down to the picnic areas where bamboo cottages are scattered just perfectly to catch the best view of manmade waterfalls. Before going down, you need to pass through the big rocks and narrow bamboo bridge which you will definitely worry about. Your little worries will be replaced of tons of wonderful vibes upon reaching the waterfalls.

eating while our feet soaked in the cold water.

Cleared water, a placid ambiance surrounded the place and the sounds of water falls those things you could fall in love within. A view from the waterfalls is a perfect for picturesque, its impressive manmade waterfalls that magnetize tourist to keep on visiting Wawa Dam.

With a quick glimpse on Google, I have found Wawa Dam also known as Montalban Dam was built in 1909 during the American colonial years to supply Metro Manila and abandoned until Angat Dam was made operational.

perfect for summer

a truly right place to unwind

The cold wind blows across the place, play with our hair made it hard to start a fire for our grill fish and hotdogs. When things just got harder for us, we ask help to Manong who collects fee for bamboo cottages.

Focus is the key!

After having a blast of bliss, we decided to packed up, anyway we already enjoyed every piece of adventure here. FYI they don't have public restrooms neither comfort rooms for changing clothes, many of us went to the cave to change clothes, I don't feel like changing in the cave so my girlfriend I took off and decided to wander around to the local houses to seek for comfort rooms we can rent to change our clothes. After a tiring descend, we've found one, a not-so-good comfort room with a lot of holes around its walls, considered ourselves a lucky to get one just so quick. We hurriedly get inside and change our clothes then get back to our pick up right away.

Best picture of us.

She seems not happy. hehe

A jump shot before we left the place.
